Hello 2021! How we got to the Summit St Shop..
Happy New Year All!! HELLO 2021!!
What a year we all had! As you probably know, back in October we had to make the very tough decision to close The Crafty Shack. Here's what's going on....
We opened The Crafty Shack in January 2017 and only a few months later we also purchased a vacant church building in Webberville. That church building was going to be a larger retreat house with a shop downstairs. We worked for a few years on the planning and designing of that. When we were just about to pull that trigger .... BAM!!! Covid 19 hit. We are SOOOO glad we didn't move forward with that project. That would have been a sad situation.
As the months went by and things changed and evolved, it became clear that it would be a very long time before opening a large retreat house would make any kind of sense. So still, there sat that big beautiful church with her original stained glass windows, her historical landmark plaque, her empty parking lot, begging for some life to be breathed into it! As the real estate market grew to an incredible high, there sat The Crafty Shack as well. It hit me and I knew it was time to sell that house and put the finances towards the church. I knew it was important for our small town of Webberville to have the church building be something again and that a lovely shop would be a blessing. I know I can open a retreat house down the road if that's what is meant to be.
Of course it's been emotional! This little house has had a lot of life in it. We moved in June 1999, just weeks before our second was born. We raised all five kids there, tons of daycare kids got to grow up there, and guests and crafters got to enjoy it for over three years! Ummm and remember right before Covid - it was in a magazine???? That will forever be an amazing memory. The Crafty Shack was my happy place!
In comes Summit St Shop. We opened online Thanksgiving night and will be in the church building as a storefront location ASAP!! My whole family is getting involved. We have started slowly with a small amount of fashion, FABRIC, decor and gifts. What will be at the shop? More fashion? Decor? Workshops? Ladies nights? Fabric by the yard? ..... maybe a longarm machine?? We shall see!
I look forward to sharing this with you all! The renovation, the set up, the product, the struggles, the happy dances, ALL of it!
Check out the site, like my FB page, follow my instagram, and tell your friends!!!
Thank you all. I hope this new year brings hope and JOY. Let's doooo this!!!
Love,
Jordan
Could you please let me know when the “Jack’s Bar” mug comes back in stock? I really would like one. Our mutual friend, Mary, showed hers on FB, but I saw it too late. Please and thanks.
